Oh, how it seems like ages ago when I was knocking on doors all over southeastern Wisconsin, contacting decision-makers -- hoping they would grant me just one chance to compare the telecom service they had to the one I was offering.  The reasons why most folks despised doing door-to-door sales were all of the reasons I loved it.  It was this type of "face-to-face" relationship-building that I truly began to find both personally fulfilling and career-fitting.

For the next ten plus years I worked in direct sales and sales management -- often training, coaching, and motivating sales people to focus on not just achieving their goals, but rather putting the client's goals first.  As a leader, it wasn't just about meeting and exceeding the client's expectation, but also doing it in a way that leaves them feeling like they just conducted business with and old friend rather than a "salesperson".  I measured the quality of my client interactions by how great the conversations were and how many times I could make them laugh and whether all involved were having fun or not.

Simply put -- I love people.  I especially love supplying people with what they may need to make important decisions for themselves.
